COMENTARI: L'adjectiu scarce també s'usa en la dita scarce as hen's teeth (lit.: tan escàs com les dents d'una gallina).
SINÒNIMS: El mot vamoose (pron.: /vè.mús/), derivat de l'espanyol «vamos», s'usa a vegades als EUA. Altres sinònims són hightail it (fugir amb la cua alta), take a powder (lit.: agafar pols) i make a getaway (fugir).
NOTA LÈXICA: El verb aprofitar no correspon directament a cap verb anglès.
